Well Project

One mission in writing the book was to use a portion of the proceeds and to raise money to build a water project in my father’s memory to help others in need. We’d often go to to an artesian well near our home when I was growing up, and that was the genesis of the idea to have a well built in my dad’s memory. I chose charity:water to build the project. God bless you. Jeff Joutras

Fall 2021 Update: Charity:water should be sending detailed information about the water project this coming December! Stay tuned for updates.

SPRING 2020 UPDATE!: With the funds raised - many direct donations and proceeds from book sales, charity:water is designating those funds to a water project in Uganda. The fundraiser in my father’s memory closed on August 31, 2019. It will take about 2 years for all of this to come to completion and with Covid things have slowed a bit. You can scroll down to see the original information on the fundraiser and why building a water project in honor of my father’s memory resonates with me and my family. Thank you & God bless, Jeff Joutras

Why Uganda?

Northern Uganda is rebounding after two decades of civil war. More than 1.6 million people were internally displaced (80% were women and children) and many remain far from home today.

But clean water projects can improve health, shorten the time spent walking for water, and even help define and rebuild communities returning to or looking for a home after years of displacement.

What’s next?

Our partner organization, GOAL, is busy working on 157 projects. In light of the coronavirus, we are expecting and planning for delays to implementation. While timelines may change, your money is hard at work and is more important than ever as we fight to keep families healthy and safe in the midst of a pandemic.

After our partner organization is able to complete the water projects, we’ll collect GPS coordinates, photos, and other details about each community to show you the impact you’ve made in Uganda

Here is the original information on the fundraiser May- August 2019:

Please take a moment to read about the charity I am hoping to help! The fundraiser time period just ended August 31st, 2019. With your generosity we raised over $11,000 to fully fund a water project. Amazing and thank you to all who contributed!!

We can do something together to help solve the water crisis and bring clean water to those who desperately need it. I hope to build a well by sponsoring a water project to be built in a developing country in my father’s name, by raising $10,000 or more to fully fund a project. We are now over $10k thanks to the generous donations of many, the more we raise, the more people can benefit from clean water. The net proceeds from book sales will also help — but that’s going to take a long time, time we don’t have. My father did a lot of volunteer work in his short life—this mission resonates with me because as a family we’d go to this artesian well near our home when I was a young boy called the “Flowing Well” to get a drink on a hot summer day and to fill up bottles with fresh well water, along with many others from the surrounding area. Please join me in making a difference—we have until August 31, 2019 to raise the needed funds. Please visit https://my.charitywater.org/jeff-joutras/louis-joutras to donate. Thank you so much ! Jeff
